Korres Greek Yoghurt Foaming Cream Cleanser

Skincare starts with cleansing. It’s a very important step. However, I’ve never had a particular loyalty to a face wash. I like a lot of them, but I’ve never found one I needed to purchase over and over. Recently, I had a chance to try a sample of the Korres Greek Yoghurt Foaming Cream Cleanser.  This product retails for $26 at Sephora and similar retailers.

I typically avoid foaming cleansers because they tend to dry out the skin, however I did like this one. First, it smelled amazing. I’m not sure how to describe it, but it seemed somewhat floral but very light and fresh. Honeysuckle is an ingredient, so that’s probably the cause of the lovely scent.

I think this would be a great cleanser for people with sensitive skin. It felt so gentle on the skin. It’s actually a soap-free cleanser, which could be why it’s so gentle. I can definitely see this being used as a morning cleanser or the second half of a double-cleanse. It’s a bit too gentle to remove makeup effectively, but it feels amazing on the skin. It’s supposed to be nourishing and great for dry skin, and I will admit that it did not actually feel very moisturizing, so I think it would be better for people with mild dry skin and not severe dry skin, who might need something a bit thicker.

Overall, I was pleased with this cleanser. I doubt I’ll buy the full-size product, but I’ll finish up this deluxe sample for sure.

I’ve already made my purchases, since Rouge members get a few early dates, and here’s what I purchased:

The Bare Minerals bareSkin Perfecting Veil Finishing Powder – I’ve been a bit oilier lately and my acne’s been worse, so I needed a pressed powder which I feel is easier to layer over problem skin than loose powder.

Make Up Forever Full Coverage Concealer – Again, with the acne I need something heavy-duty to help cover up.

Sunday Riley The Influencer Clean Long Wear Foundation – This brand has a major cult following and I’ve been so excited to try this new foundation!

Dior Addict Lip Lacquer – I’m obsessed with Dior lip products, so I have to try all their new ones! And this one has major glitter…

Caudalie Instant Detox Mask – This is an amazing, gentle mask that can be used every day and is fantastic for acne. You can read my full review here.

Herbivore Blue Tansy AHA + BHA Resurfacing Clarity Mask – This mask is also amazing for acne. I initially didn’t love it because of the smell, but I was won over by how it helped my skin. You can read my full review here.

Mini Beauty Blender

Beauty blenders are a cult favorite for blending foundation, and for good reason. They allow for a perfect makeup application. Now, beauty blender is capitalizing on their fame and issuing some new products. Recently, I had a chance to try one of the mini beauty blenders which cost $18 for a set of 2 from Sephora and similar retailers.

I’m going to have to be completely honest about this one. While I love the original beauty blender, I did not love these. They are really about the size of your finger tip, which makes them a little hard to hold. They’re okay for dabbing on concealer, but I find that I can do just as good a job using my full-size beauty blender that I use for foundation. When it comes to contouring, I use both powder and cream products, and obviously this blender is just for the cream products. Still, I didn’t find that the precise application promised really came through. For the price, I definitely don’t think this product is worth it.

Caudalie Eye Lifting Balm

I love Caudalie, so I was excited to receive a new product from them to review, but I do feel the need for a disclaimer: I am 26, so I don’t really need an eye lifting balm quite yet (hopefully!) Still, I was happy to test and try to give some thoughts on the Caudalie Eye Lifting Balm which retails from Sephora and similar retailers for $62 for 0.05 oz.

At this point in my life, I’m more concerned with dark circles and dryness under my eyes instead of wrinkles, but I still love an eye cream. I’ve been using eye cream since I was 16 because prevention is definitely important. This Caudalie product was awesome. It was a thin enough consistency that it dried quickly and didn’t leave me looking oily under the eye. I could tell that it really moisturized well though. It left my undereye area feeling really smooth too.

Overall, I really liked this eye cream. I can’t verify it’s lifting claims and I don’t know how it would help wrinkles, but I am hopefully that it would work pretty well because my undereye was noticeably smoother after use. I think this is another great product from Caudalie.

W3ll People Narcissist Stick Foundation

Recently, I decided I wanted to try a few more natural beauty products. It’s so hard to find a good natural foundation and concealer so  I decided to focus on that first. I went to Target and I found I brand I didn’t know much about: W3ll People, and I picked up a few of their products. Today’s product that I’ll be reviewing is the W3ll People Narcissist Stick Foundation which retails for between $28 – $33 depending on the retailer.

First, let’s go over some of the “natural” qualities. This product is 70% organic, vegan, hypoallergenic, chemical-free, fragrance-free, cruelty-free, and non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores). It’s also made without gluten, parabens, GMOs, phthalates, sulfates, dimethicone, propylene glycol, mineral oil, talc, and more! So, I was super pleased with all of that. However, beeswax is listed as an ingredient, so that would seem to negate its claims of being vegan unless its synthetic beeswax. Some of it’s other natural ingredients are aloe vera, vitamin e, and green tea which makes it great for sensitive skin.

So, now on to the actual performance of the product. I’ll admit that I was immediately a little concerned. There was something about the texture that felt kind of dry, so I was afraid that I would have a difficult time blending the product. Thankfully, the product seems to melt with the warmth of your skin, so it was actually pretty easy to blend. It’s a very medium-coverage foundation that can be built up even more. The thickness of the product also makes it a great concealer, which is how I’ve been using it mostly. I was impressed by its lasting power. Not only does is cover a lot of flaws, it has a great finish (somewhere between a satin and a matte, leaning more towards matte) and it lasts pretty much all day. I really like this product, and I’m happy to recommend it to others who are looking for a natural foundation!

Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse

A while ago, I went through a period of desperately trying to find a drugstore foundation that could compete with the high-end $50+ foundations. I never did find one that could replace my MakeUpForever or Charlotte Tilbury or Lancome foundations, but I did find one that came pretty close: Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse. This foundation retails for about $7 at Target and similar retailers.

I couldn’t believe how great this was for $7. The texture was great – somewhere between a satin and a matte (probably leaning more towards the matte). It kept me from looking oily but it didn’t make my skin look dry either. It was best applied with a beauty blender, but it was okay when applied with fingers too. I found myself grabbing this one over and over again even after I had enough information to review it because it just worked so easily. I will say that it doesn’t last as long as I’d like it to. By the end of the day, most of it had worn off, which isn’t something that usually happens with higher-end foundations, but again it was very impressive for a $7 foundation! Just know that you’ll need to have a  touch-up option in your purse if you’re going to be out for more than 6 hours or so.

Overall, I was really impressed by this one. I did notice that my acne was a little worse after using this product for an extend period of time, but it wasn’t dramatically worse, so I’m not sure if it was actually due to this product or just hormones/stress. This was definitely the best of the drugstore options I tried, and I would definitely recommend it to people with combination to oily skin.

Natural Activated Charcoal Toothpaste

One major trend in all-natural products is the inclusion of charcoal. Charcoal has a lot of benefits: it can filter water, aid in digestion, deep clean your pores, and so much more. A lot of people have even been turning to activated charcoal toothpaste to clean and whiten teeth. The other day, I found a generic brand of activated charcoal toothpaste at TJ Maxx for just a few dollars, so I decided to give it a try.

First, it was so funny that my mouth looked like a horror movie while I was brushing my teeth. This toothpaste is a bold black so it looked like I was eating the creature from the black lagoon. It actually didn’t taste that bad. There was definitely some added mint. Overall, I liked that it genuinely did make my teeth look whiter! However, my mouth didn’t feel fresh enough afterwards and I didn’t feel like my teeth were as clean as when I use a more traditional toothpaste. I’ll keep using this one occasionally, but it’s never going to replace other toothpaste for me.

Have you tried activated charcoal toothpaste? What were your thoughts? Be sure to let me know in the comment section!

Sephora Ultra Shine Lip Gel

There are so many types of lip products in the world: glosses, balms, lipsticks, etc. So, recently I was intrigued when I saw that Sephora was offering samples of their Ultra Shine Lip Gel. The full size product can be purchased from Sephora for $12 which is comparable with the more expensive drugstore products but it on the low end for stores like Sephora.

I actually really liked this product. I didn’t love the shade I received, but I didn’t get to choose the sample shade. It just didn’t work with my skin tone, but it was pretty sheer so it wasn’t terribly noticeable. Like most lip products, texture is a big factor, and this gel formulation wasn’t nearly as sticky as a lot of glosses, which is something I really liked. The product claims to be inspired by the shine of gel nail polish, but I didn’t think it looked shinier than other gloss-like products. Overall, it was a decent product for the price. The color doesn’t last for very long, but it usually doesn’t with a gloss anyway, and ultimately this “gel” product is just another name for a gloss.

Caudalie Instant Detox Mask

It’s no secret that I’m a sucker for a face mask. They always make me feel so pampered, and I love trying new ones! Recently, I tried the Caudalie Instant Detox Mask which retails for $39 from Sephora and similar retailers.

I have to admit that I’ve already used up my entire deluxe sample because I LOVED this one! This variation of a mud mask is so awesome. It’s good for sensitive, oily, and dry skin because it’s very gentle and doesn’t really impact your PH balance. Rather, it just gently removes toxins from your pores by drawing them out with the mud. Your skin will feel softer afterwards, but it won’t feel dry or even more moisturized. This is a really great mask for people like me who have acne, and I definitely noticed an improvement in my skin with this product.

The main ingredient in this one is pink clay (the mud feature) but it also has some other ingredients that are great for clearer skin like coffee, grape extract, and papaya enzymes. It’s filled with skincare goodness, and your skin will thank you for using this one! I really have to pick up more next time I put in a Sephora order because I miss it. It’s gentle enough to even use daily, which lets you feel constantly pampered.

What is your favorite mask? Please, let me know in the comment section because you know I’m always looking for another one!

Clinique Pretty Easy Eyeliner

I love a dramatic eye look, and what better way to top it off than with liquid eyeliner? There are so many good ones on the market, but I recently tried the Clinique Pretty Easy Liquid Eyelining Pen which retails for $21 at Sephora and similar retailers.

With a name like “Pretty Easy” the expectations become high, especially since applying liquid eyeliner can be a time consuming challenge. I’m pleased to say that this one really lived up to its name though. One swipe on each eye resulted in a pretty even lining on both eyes, plus the pen tip is narrow enough to get really close to the lash line. The tip allows for a lot of control, and it is perfect for a cat eye too. Overall, I was really impressed by how easy this one was to apply. It was a cinch and the product also lasted all night.

My one complaint is that you have to be careful not to touch your eye because it never dries down completely and will transfer. I wore this when I had dinner with a friend, and we ended up laughing so hard about something that my eyes started watering. When I wiped my eye, a whole lot of liner came off on my finger. However, it didn’t looked smeared around my eye nor did it migrate anywhere, so that’s good.

Overall, I really recommend this product, especially for those who struggle with eyeliner application. The pen tip on this product makes it very easy to apply.
