Buxom Big & Sexy Bold Gel Lipstick

There are lots of great lipsticks out there, but I have recently been loving the Buxom Big & Sexy Bold Gel Lipstick.

This product can be purchased at Sephora for $22 a tube, which is a decent price. The tubes are very large and will last a very long time. There are a huge variety shades available in either matte or satin finishes. I happen to almost exclusively prefer satin finishes on lipsticks, so those  are the ones that I have tried, though I am sure the matte ones would be great as well since they share the same formulation.

This has got to be one of the easiest lipsticks to apply. The colors are highly pigmented, and they only take one quick swipe to evenly coat the lips. There’s something about the gel formula that just really works. The color also lasts for quite a while. It won’t last all day and won’t hold up when you’re eating, but it also seems to fade evenly and doesn’t tend to migrate.

I would highly recommend this product! I think that this is the perfect lipstick. It provides bold color with easy application, and it doesn’t dry out the lips.

Secret Invisible Lipliner

I don’t typically wear lip liner, so that may explain why I was underwhelmed with No Bleeding Lips – Secret Invisible Lipliner by Know Cosmetics.

I have never wanted to bother with getting different lip liners in every single shade to correspond with all my many lipsticks. It just felt like a waste to me, especially since my lips are shaped in a way that I don’t often deal with lipstick bleeding past my lips. However, when I saw this product at Sephora, I thought it was such a neat concept. It’s a clear lipliner that goes with all lipstick. It was a $15 impulse purchase that I didn’t really need, but I still wanted to share in case any of you are looking for something like this.

So, since I didn’t really experience bleeding before using the liner, that didn’t change when I started using the liner. The waxy consistency was good and it felt smooth around the lips. But I didn’t notice any difference. However, it did feel like this would work for someone who does experience bleeding, so I’d be really interesting what results other people had with the product. It’s had some great reviews on Sephora’s website.

If you are tired of buying matching lip liners for each of your lipsticks, then why not give this a try? It’s a really cool concept and it could save you money in the long-run if you just have to buy this one lip liner.

Stila Stay All Day Eyeliner

Winged eyeliner is the holy grail of beauty looks for a lot of makeup junkies, but finding the right product is so difficult. There are so many eyeliners out there, but I wanted to share my very favorite one: Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner.

The brush tip of this eyeliner is brilliantly constructed. Depending on the angle you hold the brush, it can create a very thin or thick line. It is so easy to maneuver and this is, in part, due to the consistency of the product. It is wonderfully pigmented and comes out more evenly than any other liquid eyeliner I’ve tried. This eyeliner is guaranteed to cut down the time it takes you to apply the perfect cat eye. You might even get to work on time!

This product can be purchased for $22 at Sephora, which isn’t too bad compared to other high-end eyeliner prices. It does last a very long time and does not seem to dry out nearly as quickly as other brands I’ve purchased. It also lasts all day long! The only drawback I’ve had is that it is actually pretty difficult to get off. Most eye makeup removers make me scrub too much when I’m trying to get this off, so I definitely suggest trying Clinique Take the Day Off Balm to get this off without scrubbing off your eyelashes.

Acure Brightening Facial Scrub

Exfoliation is a tricky word. It’s important to remove dead skin, but exfoliating too much can be harmful to the skin and cause a lot of irritation. However, there is a great, affordable option out there for perfect exfoliation: Acure Brightening Facial Scrub.

This scrub works really well, but it’s gentle enough that you can use it up to three times a week. It’s remarkably gentle and made with very natural ingredients. I have a phobia about exfoliating products with large granules that are hard to wash off, but this product doesn’t scare me because the granules are so small and nearly disappear when I scrub my face. Of course, I do have to wash it off, but my skin doesn’t have a gritty feeling afterwards. It also has an amazing bright green color which is just so fun.

Overall, this is a great product. You can pick it up online or at a drugstore for under $10 and it will last a long time. A little goes a long way, and it definitely makes my skin looking clearer and brighter. This is a great, inexpensive find!

Origins GinZing Eye Cream

I have been using eye cream since I was 16 in the hopes that I’ll be able to someday completely eliminate the dark circles under my eyes. In all honesty, they aren’t terrible, but it has been an insecurity of mine ever since an unpleasant relative made a big deal about how terrible the dark circles looked. As she tends to be overly critical of every aspect of every person she meets, I know I shouldn’t have taken her words to heart, but I did let it grow into quite the insecurity.

I’m very excited to have a new favorite eye cream! Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream is absolutely the best I’ve tried so far and I use it every morning and evening during my skincare routines. It is the standard half-ounce bottle (and it will go a long way like all eye creams) and is $30. This makes it one of the cheaper eye creams at Sephora, which is a nice plus.

The biggest ingredient in this product is caffeine, and it definitely seems to help the skin under the eye to feel tighter and look better overall. I don’t tend to have issues with puffiness, but this one is great for dark circles. However, this is in part because the product is slightly tinted and shimmery. It helps to create the illusion of brightness under the eyes. Still, it instantly makes my eyes look better, so I love it. The illusion is not enough that I can forego undereye concealer during the day, but it is a nice start. No eye cream will ever really fix dark undereye circles permanently. All of them are temporary fixes, and this one works really well for me.

Miss Dior Eau de Parfum

I am so picky when it comes to scents. I know that fragrance is a really personal topic and it really all boils down to preference, but I just wanted to share my excitement over finally fining a fragrance that hasn’t yet bored me! I have discovered that I love Miss Dior Eau de Parfum.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the most budget-friendly scent. A one ounce bottle will set you back about $74. However, I think that I want this to become my new signature scent. My whole life, I’ve been obsessed with finding a signature scent. Fragrance memories are very powerful – how often do you smell a flower or food and feel transported back into a wonderful part of your past? I’ve always thought that having a signature scent might make me more memorable. In high school, my signature scent was Lucky You. It is very floral but fresh, and it made me feel more comfortable in my own skin. Then in college, I upgraded my signature scent to Gucci Guilty. This is the scent that made me feel like an adult. It’s a bold scent that made me feel more confident. I would wear it before meetings at works or workshops in school.

Now, I’m finding myself in a new place in life, and I feel like Miss Dior suits me better. It is both floral and fruity, and it’s strongest note is jasmine. It is a good blend of youth and maturity, and it does not smell musky or overly sugary. The smell evokes in me what I’m already feeling about myself. Instead of masking my insecurity with a fragrance that tricked me into feeling more confident, I can now just be myself.

PTR Irish Moor Mud Mask

I am a sucker for any mask product. I love creamy masks and sheet masks and overnight masks. However, I think that my standards for masks are now quite high because I’ve tried so many of them. Recently, I tried the Irish Moor Mud Purifying Black Mud Mask from Peter Thomas Roth, and I must admit that I was kind of disappointed.

The full sized version of this product is $58 for 5 ounces, which is pretty high even for Sephora. Still, 5 ounces is quite a bit of product and a little bit of this product can cover a lot of your face. Unfortunately, I just don’t think this does anything to me. It doesn’t seem to make my skin look clearer at all, and my face doesn’t even feel different after using the mask.

I’ve heard such high praise for the Peter Thomas Roth brand, but so far I’ve found the products underwhelming. I’ve been using an acne gel from them that doesn’t make my skin worse, but I don’t think it’s really helped either. The pimple patches work quite well if applied overnight on something with a whitehead, but they do nothing to the deep red zits. I’ve also tried five of their face mask formulas so far, and they’ve all just been okay. I definitely won’t be repurchasing any of these product, and that does disappoint me since I was expecting great things.

So, the quest for the perfect skincare brand continues!

Fizz & Bubble Truffles

Last week, I blogged about the Fizz & Bubble Bath Milkshake, which is a great economical choice, but this week, I wanted to share another more luxurious option from the company: Fizz & Bubble Truffles.

The nine pack of truffles is only $20, which is still pretty good for a fun bath product. Plus, just look how cute they are! This is the perfect sample pack as well because it has nine of Fizz & Bubbles scents. If you like one (or more) of them, Fizz & Bubble has whole ranges devoted to most of the scents which includes shower gels, bath cupcakes, and large bath fizzies.

You’ll want to put just one in each bath. They are certainly large enough for a bath, although they are smaller in comparison to other bath bomb products on the market (but this is, after all, a sample pack). The scents are great. They are strong enough to make the bath smell nice without feeling overpowering.

As with most bath products, however, I did not find that they had any moisturization value, despite marketing claims. You’ll definitely still need to follow up your bath with a nice lotion. Still, I think these are a really fun product, and they would make a lovely gift as well because of the packaging!

IT Cosmetics Contour Palette

I am obsessed with palettes because they are so convenient. I have been searching for quite a while for a good contour palette that contained powder products and would work with my cool-toned pale complexion. After much shopping, I found the perfect thing at Ulta: IT Cosmetics Your Most Beautiful You Anti-Aging Face Palette.

This palette was $38, but it has an enormous amount of product in each pan. These are very buildable colors that definitely work on my pale skin, but they will also work well on skin much tanner than mine. I love the cool tones that work well with my complexion. This reminds me of my old palette from NARS which had almost identical shades but was much smaller and much more expensive. Even the quality of the pigments and textures reminds me of NARS, although I have to say that I prefer this palette. These powders glide on so effortlessly and they blend so easily! I am so excited that I found this palette because it is just perfect for my contouring needs. And another benefit – it has not broken me out in the week I’ve been using it!

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray

I never thought I would need a makeup setting spray since I do typically set my makeup with a setting powder, however I’ve found that my makeup holds up even better when I do put a makeup setting spray on top of it, especially during humid scenarios. The best one I’ve found so far is the Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray which can be obtained for $31 at Sephora.

This bottle should last a very long time, so hopefully that helps cushion the $31 price tag. It also applies so easily. You can just close your eyes and spray it directly at your face. I typically spray 2 or 3 times to get each angle of my face. It dries pretty much instantly and never moves my makeup. Rather, it almost adds an airbrushed quality to the overall makeup look and makes everything looks better blended.

I definitely don’t use this product every day. I typically only use it on days when I know I’m not going to have time to do any touch ups or when I’m wearing a lot of makeup. On my more natural BB cream and lip balm days, it doesn’t seem worth it to use this product, but it definitely keeps my more polished looks staying fresh all day.
