Frizz Ease Keraflex Hairspray

Hairspray is essential on humid days. It really holds a hairstyle together, so I was excited to try the Frizz Ease Keraflex Hairspray this summer. This product can be purchased for $7.50 at Target or similar stores.

I will admit that I’m not terribly picky when it comes to hairspray. I think that it’s a product that’s hard to mess up and most of them feel the same. That being said, I really liked this one. It really does let hair remain flexible while still keeping the hairstyle intact. It’s a very fine mist and I love that it doesn’t leave my hair feeling weird and crunchy. For $7.50, I think this is a great quality hairspray! Frizz Ease is owned by the John Frieda brand, and that’s a brand that I really love. This is another winner!

B&B Grooming Creme

I have recently started trying to take better care of my hair. I’m also trying to style it a bit more effectively than before, and part of my new routing includes the Bumble and Bumble Grooming Creme. This can be purchased from Sephora for $31.

I love how this product is light and easy to use. A teeny bit goes a long way. I usually rub a pea-sized amount in my palms and then I run it through the ends of my tresses. It instantly tames fly-aways, adds some shine, and removes all frizz. It works so well and it never makes my hair look greasy. My hair is also very thin, but it never weighs it down. Overall, I’ve found that this is the perfect hair product for me, and I highly recommend it!

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick

Warning: controversial post ahead!

The internet is singing the praises of the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick. It can be purchased from Sephora for $20. I feel like I gave it a really fair chance, but I just can’t stand this lipstick and I feel mildly traumatized by the experience of wearing it.

Above is a picture of the neutral pink shade that was okay. It dried out my lips and faded really fast, but I didn’t hate it. The one I hated, I threw away before I could take a picture. It was one of the bright red shades. I had tried it once and really liked it. While it dried out my lips, it had stayed in place for several hours while I was working (but not eating). I decided to wear it out when I had lunch with a dear friend. We went to a local restaurant and I ordered a sandwich. The first bite I took, I could feel the lipstick smear. Now, this was two hours after I had applied the lipstick, so it should have had a chance to dry. But no, I now had bright red lipstick smeared all over my face. I looked at my friend whose eyes had gone wide with shock. “Is it everywhere?” I asked and she nodded. I grabbed a mirror from my purse and my face was even worse than I imagined – it looked like a crime scene. I tried wiping it away with the back of my hand, but that somehow made it worse. It was then that I realized that our table was as far away from the bathroom as possible. I was just too vain to walk across the restaurant where anyone could see the catastrophe. I grabbed the bright white cloth napkin (I know I ruined it – I felt so bad!) and dabbed it in my water glass and was eventually able to salvage my face.

So, that’s my Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick horror story. I know these are holy grails for some people, but I just wanted to share my experience too.

Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask

It’s time for another mask review! I absolutely adore face masks because they provide the fastest most potent skincare results, and they feel luxurious. This week, I’m reviewing the Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask. This mask can be purchased from Sephora for $58 per 1 oz container.

I was nervous to try this mask because anything that says “resurfacing” has the potential of being really harsh on the skin (for example, the terrible chemical peel experience from last week). However, this was incredibly gentle on the skin and did not cause any irritation. The product has a jelly-like texture and is a mostly clear with a tint of brown. I slathered on a thin layer and waited for about thirty minutes before washing it off. Were the results earth shattering? No, but I did wake up with clearer skin the next morning. And after using it for several days in a row, my skin did feel smoother too. Overall, I’m disappointed in the price of the product because $58 is pretty steep for 1 oz of face mask cream, but I am pleased with the results. If you can afford it comfortably, then I think it’s probably worth it. I should also mention that 100% of this product is made from all-natural ingredients and it is completely vegan as well with no artificial colors or fragrances. It’s always great to find a natural product that really works.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer

I’ve been paranoid about my under eye circles ever since an aunt of mine pointed them out when I was sixteen and told me, “They’ll never go away. They’ll just get darker the older you get.” This was kind of her to point out since every sixteen year old needs more insecurity in her life. Anyway, this started me on a quest to prove her wrong and I’ve invested in countless eye creams and concealers ever since. Recently, I was encouraged to try the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer. I picked up the shade “Fair” from Target for $7 which is an awesome price.

This is by far one of the best under eye concealers I’ve ever used. It’s creamy and kind of dry which helps it to cover well and stay in place. It doesn’t sink into any lines underneath my eyes, and I don’t even need to use a setting powder with it (although, to be fair, I rarely need a setting powder under my eye). The coverage of this concealer is phenomenal and it is so incredibly easy to blend. You can blend it just as easily with your fingers as you can a beauty blender because of its texture.

My friend Katie mentioned that she uses this concealer on acne and other parts of her face as well, so I tried to give it a shot there too. It was still great! It covered even my peskiest zits and lasted for a fairly long time. I did find that applying it on parts of my face other than under my eye worked better with the beauty blender. I did need a setting powder over my acne bits, but that’s pretty normal for me.

Overall, I was blown away by this concealer. Not to sound like a snob, but I don’t try drugstore makeup on my face very often. This has definitely inspired me to try more though because I was just so impressed. I’ll definitely be repurchasing this over and over again, and I recommend this to anyone who wants something inexpensive but high coverage for their under eyes.

So, since I’m going to try more drugstore makeup, what do you think I should try? Please, leave your suggestions in the comment section!

Lancôme Cils Booster XL Super-Enhancing Mascara Base

Eyelashes are one feature that I love looking at on other people. When someone has a thick set of dark, perfectly curled eyelashes, I get so envious because I just can’t get mine to behave. I’ve tried everything! Recently, I tried to enhance mine with the Lancôme Cils Booster XL Super-Enhancing Mascara Base. This eyelash primer can be purchased from Sephora for $25.50.

My eyelashes are very straight and very thin. Because of them being so thin, I have to be careful not to weigh them down with too much product because if I do they won’t keep their curl at all. So, I have found that I have to apply just a little bit of this product. However, I do see a difference in my lashes when I use this base. My eyelashes look thicker, and the added volume is very nice. Even though this goes on white, it’s easily covered by my regular mascara. I definitely recommend this to people who need a boost and have thin eyelashes but remember to only use a little bit because it can get heavy and weigh them down.

Do you use an eyelash primer? If so, which is your favorite? Be sure to let me know in the comment section!

Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Ultra Gentle Daily Peel

I’m always looking for a skincare miracle. I have acne prone skin with some scarring. Anything that claims to resurface the skin and smooth things out is something I’m willing to try. I recently received a three day sample of the Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Ultra Gentle Daily Peel. A thirty day supply can be purchased from Sephora for $88, which is pretty expensive for something you would need to repurchase monthly.

This is a two-step process. Each day requires two different wipes. You rub the first wipe over your clean skin until the wipe feels dry. Then you wait two minutes and do the same thing with the second wipe. It’s a very easy process, but I just hated the results. I am so glad I used the ones for sensitive skin because I can’t even imagine what would have happened to my skin if I used the stronger ones. Here is a summary of my experience:

After Day 1 – I woke up with acne on my cheek. I was surprised because this is not a location where I typically get acne. My skin also felt kind of dry.

After Day 2 – I woke up with more acne, this time around my nose and eyebrow. My skin was even drier and my cheeks and chin were looking red.

After Day 3 – I received even more acne, but now it spread to my chin. My skin was even more red and very dry.

So, obviously, I hate what this did to my skin. Could it have been drawing out the impurities in my pores? Sure, it might have been. Had I used it for a month, maybe my acne would have actually improved, but at what cost? Even my strongest moisturizer wasn’t a match for the drying and redness that this caused and I only used it for three days. I would not recommend this for sensitive or acne prone skin at all. Maybe this would work better for oily skin and people who are not prone to breakouts.

Doucce Eye Shadow Quad

I’m not always adventurous when it comes to eye shadow, but recently I wanted to go for something more dramatic. I recently received the Doucce Eye Shadow Quad in #16: the Allure Special Edition. This quad can be purchased from their website for $35, which is very expensive for an eye shadow quad.

First, the pigmentation was really great. They are vivid and dramatic. The picture doesn’t do them justice as they all have some shimmer to them. I was really pleased with the full effect of these shadows, but I was disappointed in their texture. This is a very dry powder that is much harder to blend that Urban Decay shadows. For $35, I expect a better quality shadow. I will admit that it lasted all day and still looked great even after 10 hours of wear, but it just shouldn’t have been so hard to get my desired look. Overall, I liked this quad and I’ll definitely keep using it, but I would only recommend it to people who don’t mind blending a lot. There are definitely better quality shadows for better prices elsewhere.

Tonymoly Honey Moisturizing Sheet Mask

It’s no secret that I’m obsessed with masks. Today, I want to share a really great one that I found: the Tonymoly honey moisturizing sheet mask. I got the limited edition Pikachu one, but this is just a difference in packaging from their typical honey sheet mask.

You can get these from Tonymoly’s website and select retailers. I’ve seen them before in Ulta. Honey is a miracle ingredient, so I was excited to try this ingredient in a mask. First off, it smelled so amazing. You can really smell the honey. It also adhered well to the face for a sheet mask. I left it on for a solid thirty minutes and then I rubbed the excess product into my skin after I removed the sheet. I didn’t notice immediate moisturizing but my skin was noticeably softer and clearer the next morning. I would definitely recommend this sheet mask.

What are your favorite sheet masks? Let me know in the comments section!

Urban Decay Revolution Lipgloss

Urban Decay is an awesome brand. They have quality products for reasonable prices, and everything has such great pigmentation. However, they have a tendency to scrap great products and introduce new things in their place, which makes it hard to get attached. Still, that also means that sometimes you can get great deals on their products! Right now, you can get the Urban Decay Revolution Lipgloss from Sephora for only $11.

I went with the shade Scandal (seen above) which is a really dramatic pink. I think it’s really fun and gorgeous. The texture of the gloss is only a little sticky, which I think is a victory for any lipgloss. I will admit that it doesn’t last as long as I’d like it to, and I do find myself having to reapply every few hours. Still, the pigmentation and texture are great, and I’m sad that they’re getting rid of these. Hopefully, something just as awesome will replace them. In the meantime, don’t delay! Get these for half-price before Sephora sells out and they’re gone forever!
