Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Thanks for sticking with me during a kind of disappointing blogmas. I’m back now with a great product that will help battle dry skin: Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer. This product can be purchased at Target for about $7.

As far as drugstore lotions go, this is one of my favorites. As the name suggests, it works best on wet skin (so right after you get out of the shower). A little goes a long way, and it really absorbs into the skin so quickly with no greasy residue. I like the version with Monoi Oil because it leaves this light, floral scent behind, but there are other versions as well: coconut oil, argan oil, cherry almond oil, and a natural glow self-tanner.

This is a very lightweight moisturizer that may not be enough to completely eradicate winter dry skin, but it provides a nice base of moisture and then you can spot treat dryer areas with a more powerful lotion. I think this one is perfect for the summer though.

What are your favorite inexpensive lotions? Feel free to share in the comments section.

Blogmas Day 24: Sephora Cream Lip Stain

Welcome to the very last day of Blogmas: Day 24! It’s Christmas Eve! I hope everyone is just as excited as I am for Christmas. I can’t believe it’s almost over though. I feel like every year it comes faster and faster. Anyway, I opened my final Sephora Advent Calendar Panel and I received a full-sized Sephora Cream Lip Stain in this very pretty red shade. This product can be purchased for $14 (but only in a peach shade since all other shades have been discontinued).

I can see why these were discontinued. They dry out the lips just as bad as any other lip stain, but they also never really dry down so they smudge terribly and don’t actually last all that long. I do find the shade pretty, but it’s so messy that I found it nearly impossible to apply.

Overall, this advent calendar was a big bust! It made me feel really disappointed in Sephora because I feel like they could have done a much better job really easily. If you’re selling it in the US, then include products you can purchase in the US. Also, the amount of discontinued products made me feel like I was essentially receiving Sephora’s leftovers that they wanted to clean out of their warehouse instead of just throwing them away. There’s no way I’ll be purchasing this again next year unless there is a substantial change in quality.

Thanks so much for sticking with these Blogmas blogs! I hope everyone has a really Lovely Christmas! I’ll be back with another blog post on Wednesday.

Blogmas Day 23: Sephora Eyeshadow

Welcome to Day 23 of Blogmas! It’s just two days until Christmas. I hope everyone has been enjoying the Holiday Season and that you’re all ready for the big day. Today’s penultimate advent calendar panel revealed a Full-Sized Colorful Eyeshadow in the shade Tiramisu. I couldn’t find this shade of their website, but you can purchase other shades for $10.

I was excited when I saw this eyeshadow. It’s a bit shimmery, but seems like a great crease shade. When I tried it, it was unfortunately a little patchy, so you have to really blend it out to get it even. I have tried the Sephora brand eyeshadows before and this has never been an issue, so I’m wondering if maybe this one was just old (especially since I couldn’t find it on the website).

Blogmas Day 22: Lagoon Body Wash

It’s Day 22 of Blogmas! Today’s Sephora advent calendar gift is a one-time-use packet of the Sephora Creamy Body Wash in Lagoon. I couldn’t find it on the US website, but you can apparently get it for $11 if you live in Singapore.

I can’t say that I loved this scent. I expected it to remind me of the ocean or something, but it kind of just smelled like laundry mixed with male aftershave. It didn’t really make me think of a lagoon, and I don’t think I’d want to smell like this everyday. Still, it cleans as effectively as most body washes.

Blogmas Day 21: Instant Nail Polish Remover Wipes

It’s blogmas Day 21 and this day’s advent calendar panel revealed something I already received from an earlier day: the Sephora Instant Nail Polish Remover Wipes. These can be purchased in a box of 10 wipes for $5 which is not cost effective for nail polish remover.

I do like the texture of these wipes, but it just doesn’t justify the cost. I do find it interesting that they have white peach extract though. While it definitely smells like normal nail polish remover, there is still a hint of peach too  which is kind of fun.

Blogmas Day 20: Fox Pin

Welcome to Blogmas Day 20! Can you believe how close we are to Christmas? Today’s Sephora Advent Calendar gift is another one that I’m not sure I’ll be able to use: a little fox pin.

It’s kind of cute, but it also doesn’t really look that much like a fox? Either way, I’m not really a big fan. Maybe I’ll just take it in to work to see if anyone wants it.

Overall, I’ve been pretty disappointed in this advent calendar. I definitely won’t be purchasing the same one next year. It’s been filled with tiny novelty things like this that I would never associate with Sephora, and the beauty products have mostly been things you can’t even purchase which makes me think that Sephora used this advent calendar as an opportunity to get rid of old samples.

Has anyone had a better experience with a different type of advent calendar?

Blogmas Day 19: Universal Brow Freeze

It’s Day 19 of Blogmas and today’s advent calendar panel revealed a new goodie: The Sephora Universal Brow Freeze. This product appears to no longer be available, but there is still a tinted version that you can pick up for $12.

I’m kind of torn about this product. On the one hand, the waxy texture really did tame my brows and make them stay in place all day. However, it also pulled out some eyebrow hairs all three times I’ve tried it. That could definitely be a problem over time. Still, it’s an interesting and effective concept, and I’m curious what similar products are offered by other brands.

Blogmas Day 18: Ribbon

It’s Blogmas Day 18 and this is probably the second most disappointing advent calendar panel so far (behind the one that was just empty). Today, I found a ribbon.

Yes, it’s literally just a ribbon. I do want to be really crafty in 2018 so maybe I’ll find a craft that needs a ribbon. Or, I could tie it around a Christmas present. What do you think? What are some clever, crafty ways to use a ribbon?

Blogmas Day 17: Sephora Nail Polish

Welcome to Blogmas Day 17! Today’s little goodie is pretty cute: a tiny bottle of nail polish. I love this wine shade, but unfortunately it isn’t on their website.

The nail polish is really nice. It’s very opaque and one coat goes a long way. It also dried pretty quickly which is always a plus. Overall, I like the nail polish and I bet I can get at least 3 or 4 pedicures out of the bottle even though it’s small.

Blogmas Day 16: Fox Sticky Notes

It’s day 16 of Blogmas! Today’s advent calendar panel revealed this tiny fox sticky note pad.

It’s pretty cute but it’s also really small. Like, I might be able to write three or four words on a sticky note. Still, I can use them for bookmarks, so I’ll still get some use out of them!
