Caudalie Instant Detox Mask

It’s no secret that I’m a sucker for a face mask. They always make me feel so pampered, and I love trying new ones! Recently, I tried the Caudalie Instant Detox Mask which retails for $39 from Sephora and similar retailers.

I have to admit that I’ve already used up my entire deluxe sample because I LOVED this one! This variation of a mud mask is so awesome. It’s good for sensitive, oily, and dry skin because it’s very gentle and doesn’t really impact your PH balance. Rather, it just gently removes toxins from your pores by drawing them out with the mud. Your skin will feel softer afterwards, but it won’t feel dry or even more moisturized. This is a really great mask for people like me who have acne, and I definitely noticed an improvement in my skin with this product.

The main ingredient in this one is pink clay (the mud feature) but it also has some other ingredients that are great for clearer skin like coffee, grape extract, and papaya enzymes. It’s filled with skincare goodness, and your skin will thank you for using this one! I really have to pick up more next time I put in a Sephora order because I miss it. It’s gentle enough to even use daily, which lets you feel constantly pampered.

What is your favorite mask? Please, let me know in the comment section because you know I’m always looking for another one!

Clinique Pretty Easy Eyeliner

I love a dramatic eye look, and what better way to top it off than with liquid eyeliner? There are so many good ones on the market, but I recently tried the Clinique Pretty Easy Liquid Eyelining Pen which retails for $21 at Sephora and similar retailers.

With a name like “Pretty Easy” the expectations become high, especially since applying liquid eyeliner can be a time consuming challenge. I’m pleased to say that this one really lived up to its name though. One swipe on each eye resulted in a pretty even lining on both eyes, plus the pen tip is narrow enough to get really close to the lash line. The tip allows for a lot of control, and it is perfect for a cat eye too. Overall, I was really impressed by how easy this one was to apply. It was a cinch and the product also lasted all night.

My one complaint is that you have to be careful not to touch your eye because it never dries down completely and will transfer. I wore this when I had dinner with a friend, and we ended up laughing so hard about something that my eyes started watering. When I wiped my eye, a whole lot of liner came off on my finger. However, it didn’t looked smeared around my eye nor did it migrate anywhere, so that’s good.

Overall, I really recommend this product, especially for those who struggle with eyeliner application. The pen tip on this product makes it very easy to apply.

Soap&Glory The Righteous Butter

It’s officially Spring, but my skin still thinks it’s Winter. I don’t know about you, but I’m still battling dry patches of itch skin, so I’ve been looking for thicker lotions to use. Recently, I had the opportunity to try Soap&Glory’s The Righteous Butter. The full-size of this product retails for about $14 at Target and similar retailers.

This is such a good lotion! The texture is quite thick, but it still dries very quickly and leaves the skin soft and moisturized without any greasy residue. It’s perfect for the really dry areas like elbows, knees, and hands too! There’s shea butter as a main ingredient in this product and it really goes to work for your skin.

The fragrance is also really interesting, but I can’t quite describe it. It just smells clean. Maybe there’s a bit of a citrusy note, but I’m honestly not sure if that’s it. Still, the scent is not overpowering, but it is fresh and uplifting.

Overall, I’ve been loving this lotion. I’ll definitely be buying more when I run out!

Too Faced Melted Latex Lipstick

I’ve been wanting bold lips lately. I know that liquid lipsticks are supposed to make it easier to have long-lasting bold lips, but I find so many of them to be way too dry to be comfortable for all-day wear. But recently, I decided to try the Too Faced Melted Latex Lipstick. This product can be purchased from Sephora ON SALE for just $10!

First, I was so impressed by this product. It was so easy to use. Just one coat gave an even, opaque look on the lips. It felt pretty soft of the lips too, and while it was relatively long-lasting, it did not make my lips feel too dry. Also, there was a glossy finish instead of a matte finish, which I definitely prefer.

The color did not last all day, and I reapplied around lunch since eating seemed to remove most of it, but I was still pleased with the outcome. By the end of the day, it had faded quite a bit, but it faded pretty evenly.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this to people who want a long-wear liquid lipstick but do not want their lips to get overly dry. You will have to touch it up at least once throughout the day, but I think that’s worth it in exchange for lips that aren’t too dry.

Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Stick Foundation

I really like the Hourglass Brand blushes and highlighters. The powders are so fine that they feel silky, and they’re so easy to blend. So, I was excited when I was given to opportunity to try a sample of one of their other products: the Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Stick Foundation. This foundation can be purchased from Sephora and similar retailers for $46.

I’ve got to be honest – I didn’t love this one, and I wouldn’t recommend it. It does blend well, and it has a lot of coverage, but it’s a little dry and requires a lot of product to cover your whole face. Honestly, after a few attempts at using this as a foundation, I gave up and started using it as a concealer. That seemed to work much better for this type of consistency, which might be why it’s marketed as a two-in-one foundation and concealer product.

Overall, I wouldn’t purchase this one. While it worked well as a concealer, there are a lot of cheaper concealer options that work way better. Sadly, this one was kind of a disappointment.

Fresh Rose Face Mask

I love face masks. They contain a higher concentration of active ingredients, so often you can get skin care results faster when you use a mask. A lot of my masks are for acne, but my skin has felt a bit dry lately, so I wanted to try one that was more moisturizing. Thankfully, I just received a sample of the Fresh Rose Face Mask. The full-size container of this product can be purchased from Sephora and similar retailers for $62.

First, this face mask smells absolutely amazing. It smells like real rose instead of synthetic rose (which helps its assertion that it’s using real roses). It also is really great for sensitive skin. Whenever I use this mask, my skin feels instantly soothed, so it’s a great mask to use when some irritation has cropped up. Lastly, the hydration claims are really true. My skin feels hydrated and soft after using this mask, but it doesn’t look so hydrated that my face appears oily or anything.

Overall, I’ve been really pleased with this mask. It reminds me a lot of the Peter Thomas Roth Rose Stem Cell Mask, although this one smells a lot better. I definitely recommend this one!

Beauty Blender Blotterazzi

Everyone knows about the beauty blender: a cult-product egg-shaped sponge that makes for perfect makeup application. However, I recently was given a new product from this brand: the Beauty Blender Blotterazzi. This is a reusable, thin, egg-shaped sponge that you can use to blot oiliness without messing up your makeup. This product can be purchased from Sephora and similar retailers for $20.

I love that this is a really thin product, and it’s easy to carry with you in a makeup bag. I have been so impressed by how this works. As the name suggests, you can use it to blot oil on your face. No matter what makeup I’m wearing, this product does not mess it up. It quickly absorbs excess oil without removing makeup.

The price of $20 is expensive in comparison to disposable blotting sheets which also work well and are often about $5 – $8, but keep in mind that this is reusable. You can wash it and use it indefinitely, so you’ll probably end up saving money over time if you go through packs of blotting papers quickly. Personally, I think it works even better than blotting papers because I typically only have to put the sponge on my skin once for all the oil to be absorbed, where sometimes I’d have to blot several times with blotting papers.

I think this is such a neat invention, and I highly recommend it to oily guys and gals. You can even use it when you’re not wearing makeup but your skin is looking oily. Have any of you tried this? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments section.

Electric Toothbrushes for Dental Health and Beauty

People notice smiles. They show so much: friendliness, openness, confidence, happiness. A dazzling smile leaves a good impression, and maybe that’s why I’m kind of obsessed with dental health. I brush my teeth about four times a day, but I’m always searching for a deeper clean. Recently, I asked my dental hygienist what I could be doing better, and she gave me some great advice: No matter how good you are at brushing your teeth, an electric toothbrush is always going to do even better.

I didn’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on an electric toothbrush, so I headed to my local Walgreens to see what I could find. I was surprised to find the Walgreens Oral Care Power Toothbrush Kit for only $9. This kit comes with a toothbrush, 2 batteries, 2 replacement heads, 20 floss heads, and a gum stimulator. That’s a lot of stuff for under $10, so I thought I’d give it a chance.

I’ve had the toothbrush for about a month now, and I love it. The small brush head is great because it can really get into any crevice of the mouth. I really do feel like I get an even better clean with this toothbrush set. My only complaint is that I’ve already had to replace the batteries (and 2 batteries every month will eventually get pricier). If you’re interested in seeing if an electric toothbrush will work better for you, I definitely recommend this starter set, but I think in the future I’m going to get a rechargeable option that I can just plug in.

Do you have a favorite toothbrush? Do you prefer manual or electric? Be sure to let me know in the comment section!

Good Chemistry Water Lily Perfume

I’ve been in a rut lately when it comes to fragrance, so I decided to try to find a new fragrance that is mostly natural and relies on essential oils for its base. I was so surprised to discover Good Chemistry – a Target-owned brand that does just that! Recently, I tried out their Water Lily perfume rollerball. This product retails for about $13 only at Target stores and online.

The scent is so nice and fresh. It’s a great everyday fragrance with hints of lotus and blackberry surrounding the water lily top note. It’s definitely a strong floral scent, and there is very little sweetness to it, but this works well for me. My only complaint is that the scent doesn’t last for more than a few hours, but thankfully the rollerball is small enough that I can pop it in my makeup bag and reapply at lunchtime. It has fewer preservatives than a traditional perfume, which is good for you and the environment, but that’s why it just naturally won’t last as long.

Overall, I’m really impressed with this product, and I can’t wait to try another fragrance from this company. I have a very sensitive nose and I don’t like synthetic floral fragrances, so this is perfect for me! Have you tried anything from this brand, or do you have a natural fragrance you adore? Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation

I have been incredibly impressed by the brand Hourglass. Their highlighters are the absolute best, so I was so excited when I received a sample of the Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation. The full-size product retails at Sephora and similar retailers for $56.

I was incredibly disappointed in this foundation! It truly is a powder finish, but it settled roughly against my skin. The finish wasn’t at all smooth. It was matte to the point of looking very cakey, which is a look that looks bad on pretty much everyone. I used a really small amount of product but was not able to make the foundation look more natural. Even when I’m wearing a medium to full coverage foundation, I expect it to blend well and have a finish that doesn’t make it super obvious that I’m wearing a thick foundation. I’ll have to give this one a pass, and I’m so glad I received a sample and didn’t actually spend $56 on this product. There are plenty of matte-finish drugstore products (like Fit Me from Maybelline!) that work so much better and are a fraction of the price.

What is your favorite matte-finish foundation? Be sure to let me know in the comments section!
