Sunday Riley The Influencer Clean Longwear Foundation

I ran out of my beloved Make Up For Ever foundation recently, so I decided to purchase a new medium-to-full coverage foundation. As I was browsing Sephora’s website, I saw that Sunday Riley has actually released their first foundation. Sunday Riley is a skincare company that has definitely achieved cult status for their amazing products. I was so intrigued that I got the new Sunday Riley The Influencer Clean Longwear Foundation in the Sephora sale. This foundation retails for $42 at Sephora.

Recently, my skin has been a bit oilier than usual, and this foundation has been amazing at combating that. This foundation has a pump that administers the foundation as a liquid. The consistency of the liquid is very medium – it’s neither thick (which can be difficult to blend) or watery (which rarely provides decent coverage). Like most foundations, a beauty blender or sponge will help with the application. However, I was amazed that one pump of this product could cover my entire face so well. There’s no need to layer with this one. It covers all redness and most acne and leaves a gorgeous satin-matte finish, which I love because it keeps my oiliness at bay without looking too matte or cakey.

The coverage is fantastic. It can be built up easily to a full-coverage, and even with only one layer, I don’t have to use nearly as much concealer as I used to. The lasting power is also fantastic, and I don’t have to touch up at work as long as I’ve used a finishing powder with it. I definitely think I’ve found my new favorite foundation! Yes, $42 is kind of high for 1.08 oz of product, but this one is worth every penny to me.

The range of shades for this product is also pretty expansive. There are 20 shades to choose from in their color spectrum. I’m very fair and I use the second lightest shade – 110 (for very fair skin with pink undertones).

This product works so well for my combination/oily skin, but I imagine that it wouldn’t perform as well with dry skin. The matte finish does feel a bit drying, which has worked well for me, but I would proceed with extreme caution if you already have dry skin. If you do decide to still try it because you like the finish and coverage, you might have to pair it with a very moisturizing primer if you already have dry skin.

Since Sunday Riley is a skincare company, of course they’ve packed this product with good-for-you ingredients too. This includes Canadian willow herb, northern truffle extract, and bisabolo. It’s also cruelty free!

I’m so impressed with this product! Have you had a chance to try it? Be sure to let me know your thoughts in the comment section!

Crystal Essence Mineral Deodorant

Time for a bit of an overshare: I don’t like natural deodorants. They just don’t seem to work well enough for me to wear them in my daily life. I don’t sweat excessively, but I’m paranoid enough to prefer a full-on non-natural antiperspirant. In fact, regarding those women who use botox injections to prevent armpit sweat – I am sometimes tempted by this…

Anyway, I still like using natural deodorants at night. I shower at night and then I’ll usually put on a natural deodorant for the evening/overnight (and then use my real one in the morning!). Recently, I tried the Crystal Essence Mineral Deodorant in Vanilla Jasmine. This product can be purchased online and in select drugstores for about $5.

Like most natural deodorants, this one smells nice but doesn’t seem to last for very long. I think that I really prefer a stick to a roller ball, and unfortunately this one is a roller ball. Still, I love the light, floral scent. I think that this would work fine for people who don’t sweat very much, but it just can’t cut it for the average person’s average day. Still, it’s a nice, affordable, natural option for those who are looking for it. However, comparing it to Tom’s of Maine natural deodorant, I’m certain that Tom’s wins in terms of both lasting power and scent.

Simple Water Boost Hydrating Gel Cream

It’s finally getting warmer outside, and I find that changes in weather also require me to change my skincare routine. I no longer need as thick a moisturizer as I did in the winter, so I’ve been a quest to find a great, lightweight moisturizer for spring and summer. Recently, I tried the Simple Water Boost Hydrating Gel Cream. This product can be purchased at Target and similar retailers for just $6.

This product is AMAZING. It’s very lightweight, but it moisturizes so well. It seems like the gel consistency really locks in the moisture and leaves my skin feeling so smooth. It also dries really quickly, which is very convenient. Also, there are no harsh chemicals, artificial perfumes, or added colors to this product, which leaves it perfect for sensitive skin. This has been great because I haven’t had any additional breakouts since starting with this moisturizer.

I’ve always loved this brand because it’s perfect for sensitive skin, but I’ve still been so impressed with this moisturizer. I’ll definitely be using this all spring and summer. This product is comparable with very high end ones, and it just can’t be beat for $6. This is the perfect product for those with slightly dry, combination, or oily skin (because oily skinned gals still need moisturizer to balance things and prevent excessive sebum production!)

Have you tried this product or another great moisturizer? Be sure to let me know in the comment section!

Garnier Nutrisse Nourishing Color Creme

Disclaimer: Thanks to Influenster for providing this product for me to review.

My hair grows super fast, and even though I’m 26, I have a substantial amount of silvery hairs that come in my roots. Because of this, I typically dye my hair every 4 to 5 weeks. That’s a whole lot of chemicals yearly, and so I’m always on the look for hair dye that’s going to be nourishing instead of adding to the inevitable damage that comes with dye and heat. Recently, I was able to try the Garnier Nutrisse Nourishing Color Creme. This product is available at Target and similar retailers for about $7.

For the price, this is a fantastic product. The creme texture is very thick, which actually makes it easier to spread evenly throughout the hair without too much mess. There was also no staining of my scalp (although, I did take some preventive measures by putting a little bit of coconut oil against my hairline – you could also use vaseline if you wanted). I will say that the color looks very even and it did cover all of my grey hairs.

The avocado, olive, and shea oil in this product really do make a difference. Often after dying my hair, it feels dry and brittle for a few days, but this didn’t happen with this product. Instead, my hair felt and looked sleaker and healthier.

The color itself is a little one-dimensional, but for $7, that’s kind of expected. It was still very nice, and I could definitely still see myself buying this in the future. It’s a fantastic product for the price. Overall, I highly recommend this one.

Do you dye your hair yourself or go to a salon? If you DIY, what is your favorite dye kit? Be sure to let me know in the comment section!

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge

Beauty Blenders have a cult following, and for good reason, but the $20 price tag can feel steep, especially when you have to repurchase every few months. I thought I would try a less expensive sponge to see how the results compare, so I picked up the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. This product can be purchased at Target and similar retailers for about $5. I spent about $8 for one that came with a case.

This product claims that you can use it both wet and dry, but like a beauty blender, it really does work better when it’s slightly damp. I will say that it does a good job, although it’s not as good as a beauty blender. Even when damp, the sponge feels a bit more stiff than I’d like, but I do like that it isn’t completely egg-shaped. It has several different edges to choose from that can fit in any contour of the face.

Overall, I really liked this sponge. While it doesn’t work as well as a beauty blender, I was still impressed. It’s about a fourth of the cost but works almost as well, and I think I’m going to be buying these from now on instead.

Have you tried a sponge other than the beauty blender? What are your thoughts? Be sure to let me know in the comments section!

Korres Greek Yoghurt Foaming Cream Cleanser

Skincare starts with cleansing. It’s a very important step. However, I’ve never had a particular loyalty to a face wash. I like a lot of them, but I’ve never found one I needed to purchase over and over. Recently, I had a chance to try a sample of the Korres Greek Yoghurt Foaming Cream Cleanser.  This product retails for $26 at Sephora and similar retailers.

I typically avoid foaming cleansers because they tend to dry out the skin, however I did like this one. First, it smelled amazing. I’m not sure how to describe it, but it seemed somewhat floral but very light and fresh. Honeysuckle is an ingredient, so that’s probably the cause of the lovely scent.

I think this would be a great cleanser for people with sensitive skin. It felt so gentle on the skin. It’s actually a soap-free cleanser, which could be why it’s so gentle. I can definitely see this being used as a morning cleanser or the second half of a double-cleanse. It’s a bit too gentle to remove makeup effectively, but it feels amazing on the skin. It’s supposed to be nourishing and great for dry skin, and I will admit that it did not actually feel very moisturizing, so I think it would be better for people with mild dry skin and not severe dry skin, who might need something a bit thicker.

Overall, I was pleased with this cleanser. I doubt I’ll buy the full-size product, but I’ll finish up this deluxe sample for sure.

I’ve already made my purchases, since Rouge members get a few early dates, and here’s what I purchased:

The Bare Minerals bareSkin Perfecting Veil Finishing Powder – I’ve been a bit oilier lately and my acne’s been worse, so I needed a pressed powder which I feel is easier to layer over problem skin than loose powder.

Make Up Forever Full Coverage Concealer – Again, with the acne I need something heavy-duty to help cover up.

Sunday Riley The Influencer Clean Long Wear Foundation – This brand has a major cult following and I’ve been so excited to try this new foundation!

Dior Addict Lip Lacquer – I’m obsessed with Dior lip products, so I have to try all their new ones! And this one has major glitter…

Caudalie Instant Detox Mask – This is an amazing, gentle mask that can be used every day and is fantastic for acne. You can read my full review here.

Mini Beauty Blender

Beauty blenders are a cult favorite for blending foundation, and for good reason. They allow for a perfect makeup application. Now, beauty blender is capitalizing on their fame and issuing some new products. Recently, I had a chance to try one of the mini beauty blenders which cost $18 for a set of 2 from Sephora and similar retailers.

I’m going to have to be completely honest about this one. While I love the original beauty blender, I did not love these. They are really about the size of your finger tip, which makes them a little hard to hold. They’re okay for dabbing on concealer, but I find that I can do just as good a job using my full-size beauty blender that I use for foundation. When it comes to contouring, I use both powder and cream products, and obviously this blender is just for the cream products. Still, I didn’t find that the precise application promised really came through. For the price, I definitely don’t think this product is worth it.

Have you tried these tiny beauty blenders? What did you think? Be sure to let me know in the comment section!

Caudalie Eye Lifting Balm

I love Caudalie, so I was excited to receive a new product from them to review, but I do feel the need for a disclaimer: I am 26, so I don’t really need an eye lifting balm quite yet (hopefully!) Still, I was happy to test and try to give some thoughts on the Caudalie Eye Lifting Balm which retails from Sephora and similar retailers for $62 for 0.05 oz.

At this point in my life, I’m more concerned with dark circles and dryness under my eyes instead of wrinkles, but I still love an eye cream. I’ve been using eye cream since I was 16 because prevention is definitely important. This Caudalie product was awesome. It was a thin enough consistency that it dried quickly and didn’t leave me looking oily under the eye. I could tell that it really moisturized well though. It left my undereye area feeling really smooth too.

Overall, I really liked this eye cream. I can’t verify it’s lifting claims and I don’t know how it would help wrinkles, but I am hopefully that it would work pretty well because my undereye was noticeably smoother after use. I think this is another great product from Caudalie.

W3ll People Narcissist Stick Foundation

Recently, I decided I wanted to try a few more natural beauty products. It’s so hard to find a good natural foundation and concealer so  I decided to focus on that first. I went to Target and I found I brand I didn’t know much about: W3ll People, and I picked up a few of their products. Today’s product that I’ll be reviewing is the W3ll People Narcissist Stick Foundation which retails for between $28 – $33 depending on the retailer.

First, let’s go over some of the “natural” qualities. This product is 70% organic, vegan, hypoallergenic, chemical-free, fragrance-free, cruelty-free, and non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores). It’s also made without gluten, parabens, GMOs, phthalates, sulfates, dimethicone, propylene glycol, mineral oil, talc, and more! So, I was super pleased with all of that. However, beeswax is listed as an ingredient, so that would seem to negate its claims of being vegan unless its synthetic beeswax. Some of it’s other natural ingredients are aloe vera, vitamin e, and green tea which makes it great for sensitive skin.

So, now on to the actual performance of the product. I’ll admit that I was immediately a little concerned. There was something about the texture that felt kind of dry, so I was afraid that I would have a difficult time blending the product. Thankfully, the product seems to melt with the warmth of your skin, so it was actually pretty easy to blend. It’s a very medium-coverage foundation that can be built up even more. The thickness of the product also makes it a great concealer, which is how I’ve been using it mostly. I was impressed by its lasting power. Not only does is cover a lot of flaws, it has a great finish (somewhere between a satin and a matte, leaning more towards matte) and it lasts pretty much all day. I really like this product, and I’m happy to recommend it to others who are looking for a natural foundation!
