Ginger & Turmeric Vitamin C Jelly Mask

It’s no secret that I love a face mask. I’ve probably blogged about face masks 100 times by now, but I have yet another one that I want to share: the Hello FAB Ginger & Turmeric Vitamin C Jelly Mask from First Aid Beauty. This mask is $32 at Sephora and similar retailers.

This mask is so good for acne-prone skin! I feel like my skin always looks clearer and brighter after using this mask. The ingredients of ginger and turmeric really invigorate the skin and clean deep too. I’ve also noticed some improvement of my overall skin texture, which is really exciting. The goal has always been to have smoother skin!

I love that this mask also works for sensitive skin. It’s a great everyday mask and you can really leave it on as long as you’d like. The jelly is easy to wash off and never really dries down. But it’s also very gentle on the skin.

I highly recommend this one! I also think it’s worth noting that this product is vegan and gluten-free.

Have you tried this mask or do you have a go-to mask for sensitive skin? Be sure to let me know in the comment section!

Too Faced Shadow Insurance

Eyeshadow primer is a must if you want to keep your eyeshadow from creasing. It also allows eye makeup to last longer before starting to fade away. There are so many great primers on the market, but I recently had the chance to try the Too Faced Shadow Insurance. This product can be purchased from Sephora and similar retailers for $20.

I’ve been really loving this product! It’s a bit cheaper than the Urban Decay Primer Potion, and it works just as well. When I wear this, my makeup lasts all day and I never experience any creasing, even with cream shadows. I also love how quickly this dries down on the lids. It creates a great, smooth canvas. The only thing I might like to see would be if this could moisturize a bit like UD’s anti-aging primer. Overall, though, this product seems fantastic, and I’ll definitely be repurchasing. I love that I only need a teeny tiny amount for this to work all day, so the tube is definitely going to last for a very long time. It’s absolutely worth the $20!

Have you tried this one or do you have a favorite eyeshadow primer? If so, be sure to let me know in the comment section!

Ciaté Fierce Flicks Precision Tip Liquid Liner

I love a dramatic cat eye, and this requires a fantastic liquid eyeliner if it’s going to last all day long and look even. My favorite is still Stila, but I’m always willing to try other brands to see how they compare. Recently, I had the chance to try the Ciaté London Fierce Flicks Precision Tip Liquid Liner. This product is $19 at Sephora and similar retailers.

Basically, the only thing I liked about this eyeliner was the name. “Fierce Flicks” is an adorable name. Everything else was a big disappointment.

First, the claim of a “precision tip” was sadly lacking. I found the tip to be too wide and not pointed enough to get a clean winged look. This might be fine if you’re just lining the rim of the upper eye, but it’s not precise enough for anything fancy.

The texture of the product was also strangely patchy. I had to go over the line so many time to try to get the shade even, and that’s something I don’t usually struggle with even when using drugstore eyeliners. Very disappointing!

Finally, this product never really dried down. It smeared a bit and parts of it flaked off and I needed to reapply throughout the work day. I hate being so overwhelmingly negative in a review, but I felt the need to be honest. I would avoid this eyeliner at all costs! Even if someone offers it to you for free, it’s just not worth the hassle.

Boscia Luminizing Pink Mask

Boscia is known for their luminizing black mask that can be peeled-off, but now they have a limited edition Boscia Luminizing Pink Mask. That’s right – this iconic mask now comes in pink!! It retails at Sephora for $34 (although it’s currently on sale for $22!)

This mask performs the same way as the black version. It dries down and enables you to peel it off when you’re ready. It can sting a bit when you rip it off, but the results are so worth it! While I wouldn’t say that my skin looks “luminized” afterwards, I have noticed that my acne responds so well to this product. When I have a zit, I use this mask as a spot treatment, and it always looks noticeably reduced the next day.

Charcoal is the ingredient in this mask that really packs a powerful punch. It cleanses and deep-cleans your pores and will definitely help acne-prone skin. I have noticed that when I use it as an all-over mask instead of just a spot-treatment, my skin is much smoother too. This is the superhero of masks!

Dior Addict Lip Lacquer Plump

It’s no secret that I love Dior lip products. Their Dior Addict lipsticks are my absolute favorite, so I always have to try their new lip products. In the recent Sephora sale, I picked up the Dior Addict Lip Lacquer Plump which retails for $37.

I’m actually not wowed by this product, which is kind of disappointing. I bought the shade Glitterati, which is a glittery nude shade, and I was disappointed by how minimal it looked. The glitter is not very noticeable and doesn’t last for very long. The nude shade is also pretty sheer, although that is kind of expected when you buy a “nude” shade. I guess I expected it to be more of a pink-nude, but it’s a real true nude. Overall, I would be okay with the shade if the glitter just popped a bit more.

Now, in terms of the plumping results, I do think that these claims are met. My lips do look instantly fuller with this product. It’s also nice that it’s semi-matte but doesn’t dry out the lips at all. It feels pretty light on the lips and doesn’t seem to settle into any lines.

However, I have also been disappointed in how quickly the product fades. For $37, I shouldn’t have to reapply 4-5 times throughout my workday. I’m always okay with 1-2 touch-ups per day, but 4-5 is something I’d only expect from a drugstore product – not Dior.

Overall, I’m really disappointed with this new product. It’s definitely not worth the hype or the money. I still love Dior lip products, but this one was a bust!

Have you tried this lipstick? What did you think? Be sure to let me know in the comment section!

Bare Minerals Bare Skin Perfecting Veil

For my skin texture, a finishing powder is pretty much always needed to complete my makeup looks. At times, when my skin is a bit dry, I reach for a light translucent powder. But when my skin is a bit oilier (during spring and summer), I’ve noticed that a pressed powder locks things in place better. Since it’s that time of year, I decided to find a new pressed powder to try, and I ended up getting the Bare Minerals Bare Skin Perfecting Veil. This powder costs $27 at Sephora and similar retailers.

I’ve always had good luck with the Bare Minerals brand, which is why I wanted to try another of their products. However, I was a bit concerned that the shade range is limited for this product. There are only four shades, and the lightest one offered is called, “Light/Medium.” My skin tone is closer to Fair/Light and I’ve never been close to Medium in my whole life, so I wasn’t sure if this one would even work for me. Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised that it is the perfect shade and blends in so well with my existing foundations.

I’ve been so impressed by how well this powder works. It keeps oil at bay for the entire day. I very rarely feel the need to touch up my makeup in the bathroom at work because this powder definitely helps extend the wear of my foundation and concealer too. In fact, I’ll often go a whole 8+ hour work day without touching up anything but my lipstick. I love how this powder locks everything in place without looking heavy or cakey. It doesn’t seem to settle into any lines or pores, and it creates this great, smooth skin surface.

Overall, I’ve been so pleased with this product. It performs well, looks great on the skin, and seems to blur my imperfections. The moment I start hitting pan on this product, I’m for sure going to buy a backup. This is one of the best pressed powders I’ve ever tried, and I highly recommend it!

Clinique Chubby in the Nude Foundation Stick

I’m not a huge fan of stick foundations, but they really seem to be trending right now. Because of this, I wanted to try another one and I picked up the Clinique Chubby in the Nude Foundation Stick. This product retails for only $25 at Sephora and similar retailers.

One issue I have with most stick foundations is that they feel kind of dry, but that wasn’t the case at all with this product. This was a very nice cream consistency. It covered things really well, even my icky acne, so that was also pretty impressive. I will admit that pairing it with a finishing powder will definitely help the lasting power, but that it usually true of most foundations.

Because of the thick consistency, I’ve found that I mostly prefer to use this product as a concealer. It works so well to cover flaws without looking cakey or overly obvious. Also, I have the shade “Intense Ivory” and it seems to blend really well with all of my other foundations when I use it as a concealer. In fact, the blendability is a huge plus in general for this product! Whether you’re using it as a concealer or foundation, it seems to just melt into the skin and instantly improve a complexion.

For the price, this is a huge bargain, especially if you use it as a concealer. It will last for soooo long! I’ll definitely be repurchasing this one when I run out because it’s become quite the staple in my makeup routine. This is another fantastic Clinique product!

Skincare Benefits of Coconut Oil

I love buying and trying new skincare products. There’s something so fun about a face mask. However, sometimes I enter into a mood where I get obsessed with natural products and remedies. The last time this happened, I discovered the many health benefits of coconut oil! For under $10 you can get an enormous jar that will last so long and give you so many skincare benefits.

The first way I use coconut oil is as a face mask. Coconut oil is super moisturizing and smells amazing! Sometimes, I’ll put it on my face and then just wait 30 minutes before washing it off my skin. Coconut oil contains antibacterial and antifungal properties, so it may be great for acne. This seems to be the case for me because it always leaves my skin smoother and hasn’t caused any new breakouts, however I have heard that some people get more acne when they use coconut oil – so you may just have to try it and see how your skin reacts. I’ve been really pleased with my results though!

Since coconut oil is super moisturizing, I’ll sometimes use it as a body mask too. For instance, 30 minutes before a shower, I’ll slather my feet and knees and elbows with coconut oil and I’ll let it absorb and soften before my shower. The reason I do this pre-shower instead of post-shower is that I’ve found that coconut oil doesn’t absorb as completely as a lotion will, and it seems to always leave an undesirable residue if I don’t wash it off.

Finally, coconut oil can be used as a really effective makeup remover. It can even remove dramatic eye makeup. There’s something about the oil that seems to melt the makeup and make it super easy to wash off. In fact, using coconut oil kind of reminds me of the Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm. It’s a great first step in a double-cleanse!

Have you used coconut oil in your skincare routine? Be sure to let me know the results in the comment section!

Burt’s Bees Micellar Cleansing Water

It’s important to make sure you remove all traces of your makeup at the end of the day. Depending on my chosen makeup look, sometimes I really struggle to remove all of my eye makeup at the end of the day. I’ve tried lots of makeup removers over the years, but I recently wanted to try a more natural option, so I decided to get the Burt’s Bees Micellar Cleansing Water. This product can be purchased at Target and similar retailers for about $10.

The bottle is pretty big for the price (it’s 12 fl oz) so it will last quite a while. I typically use a cotton pad and apply some micellar water before applying to my eye and removing my eye makeup. I will say that this seems to be great for sensitive eyes. It’s very gentle and never burns my eyes. It also doesn’t leave any residue at all like some oil-based makeup removers do. However, it also requires more effort to remove the makeup. I feel like I have to scrub, which is not good. You don’t want to be too abrasive with the delicate skin around your eyes, and tugging too much could also damage your eyelashes.

Overall, I think this product is okay. It gets the job done eventually, but I definitely won’t be repurchasing. I think I need to go back to my Clinique Take the Day Off Balm, which removes everything really efficiently and without any scrubbing.

Belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb

I am obsessed with the skin around my eyes. I’ve been using eye cream for over a decade (even though I’m only 26) because prevention is always the best policy. So, I get super excited when I get eye cream samples. Currently, I do not have any signs of wrinkles or fine lines, but I do get dry skin under my eyes as well as dark circles. Recently, I had the opportunity to try the Belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb which retails for $48 at Sephora and similar retailers.

I will say that my dark circles have looked better recently, although I think that’s because I’m sleeping more now that grad school is over (yay!!!) Still, the skin around my eyes has been kind of dry, even though my t-zone has been rather oily. This product was amazing at moisturizing that delicate undereye skin. It is so light and dries pretty quickly, but it leaves the undereye looking good and feeling really smooth. I’ve even noticed that when I use this product in the morning before doing my makeup, my undereye concealer seems to apply a lot better.

The texture of this product is kind of gel-like. It’s very cool to the touch, which is refreshing and helps with de-puffing the eye area. Overall, I haven’t found any negatives regarding this product. It only takes a little bit to cover the whole area, so my deluxe-sized sample has lasted for weeks and I still have a lot left to go. I think that, when I run out of this sample and the other eye cream I’ve been using, I’m definitely going to purchase this one.
