Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Quench Lip Rescue

I love lip products! There’s just something about putting color on the lips that makes a makeup look feel put together. Recently, I obtained the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Quench Lip Rescue in the shade Nude. This product can be purchased from Sephora for $19.

This one is quickly becoming one of my favorite lip products. It glides on so easily and covers the lips with a  sheer wash of color. It definitely helps lips to feel more moisturized and nourished. Long after the color has faded, the lips feel softer and healthier. The color doesn’t last a terribly long time, but that’s the trade off of having a nourishing formula. I definitely don’t mind reapplying this one throughout the day because it also has this amazing minty smell that I love.

Overall, I highly recommend this one to anyone looking for a moisturizing lipstick with just a touch of color. I would love to purchase more shades of this one, especially the shades Rose and Cherry. Tarte is also one of the more natural brands at Sephora, so I always love when I find one of their products that I love because I know it isn’t filled with tons of chemicals.

Have any of you tried this one or any other Tarte lipsticks? Please, let me know your thoughts in the comment section!

Wander Beauty Lipstick

Lipstick just pulls a look together! It adds a pop of color to your appearance, even if it’s a neutral – it still adds color to your lips to make you look more alive. Recently I received a sample of Wander Beauty Lipstick. These are purchasable from Sephora for $30 but they come in duos so you’ll be getting a neutral and a brighter/darker shade too. The one I have is a mauve neutral called “Barely There.”

I really love this product! This lipstick is light and easy to apply. One little swoosh will apply it easily and evenly to your lips. It has a nice opacity for a neutral shade. The finish is definitely matte but it doesn’t appear dry at all nor does it physically dry out the lips. The lasting power is pretty average, so you’ll definitely have to reapply after eating, but I think the pros far outweigh the cons in this particular lipstick.

I’m the type of person who tends to stick with very bold colors: bright pinks, reds, and berries. So, I’m stunned by how much I like this neutral shade. I think that using this lipstick has taught me that my ideal neutral is a mauve shade instead the other variations of neutrals: true nudes, very light pinks, browns, etc. So, I also appreciate this lipstick for helping me learn that.

I definitely plan to buy the full size of this product when my sample runs out, and I’m excited to try the burgundy shade that this one comes with in its duo. I can’t say that I wear burgundy lips often, but I think it will be perfect for fall. Since it’s paired with my ideal neutral, I have high hopes that it will be perfect for me too.

Givenchy Rouge Interdit Satin Lipstick

I love luxury lipsticks! Lipstick is one of my favorite beauty products, and I was so excited when I recently received a deluxe sample of the Givenchy Rouge Interdit Satin Lipstick. A full-size version of this product can be purchased from Sephora for $34.

The color was a beautiful and it was so satiny and easy to glide on the lips. It created a very pretty lip look, but I was very disappointed with its lasting power. It did not hold up even a tiny bit when I drank a bottle of water. It seemed to smear a bit. Then, when I ate my lunch, I was left with a weird ring of lipstick around my lips. The inner part of my lips was completely devoid of lipstick after eating, but I had a lot of lipstick still on the outer edges of my lips. So, I reapplied after lunch, but by the end of the workday, my lips looked like this again. I really hate when lipsticks don’t fade evenly. For $34, this is definitely not worth the price. It was beautiful for such a short amount of time. In the end, this was a big disappointment.

What are some of your favorite luxury lipsticks? Please, let me know in the comment section!

Dior Addict Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm

One of my favorite types of lip products are the tinted balms that make your lips look like they have a healthy natural pink glow. It’s kind of a “your lips but better” kind of look, and it works really well for minimum makeup days. One of the best ones I’ve found so far is the Dior Addict Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm. These can be purchased from Sephora for $30.

It’s no secret that Dior lip products are my absolute favorite! I’ve amassed quite the collection. These lip glow balms are just gorgeous. They provide a sheer, satin finish and just look so pretty. I wear them on both minimal makeup days and days where I have very dramatic eye makeup and don’t want my lips to also be dramatic. I own two: Berry and Lilac. The Berry shade is definitely darker but still very sheer. The Lilac shade is the perfect natural lip color for me.

I really can’t say enough good about these products. I don’t see any downside to them (except that $30 is a lot to spend on a lip product). They have lasted for a very long time but I will definitely repurchase them when I run out. These are definitely a staple in my collection.

Are there any tinted lip balms that you love? Please, let me know in the comment section!

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick

Warning: controversial post ahead!

The internet is singing the praises of the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick. It can be purchased from Sephora for $20. I feel like I gave it a really fair chance, but I just can’t stand this lipstick and I feel mildly traumatized by the experience of wearing it.

Above is a picture of the neutral pink shade that was okay. It dried out my lips and faded really fast, but I didn’t hate it. The one I hated, I threw away before I could take a picture. It was one of the bright red shades. I had tried it once and really liked it. While it dried out my lips, it had stayed in place for several hours while I was working (but not eating). I decided to wear it out when I had lunch with a dear friend. We went to a local restaurant and I ordered a sandwich. The first bite I took, I could feel the lipstick smear. Now, this was two hours after I had applied the lipstick, so it should have had a chance to dry. But no, I now had bright red lipstick smeared all over my face. I looked at my friend whose eyes had gone wide with shock. “Is it everywhere?” I asked and she nodded. I grabbed a mirror from my purse and my face was even worse than I imagined – it looked like a crime scene. I tried wiping it away with the back of my hand, but that somehow made it worse. It was then that I realized that our table was as far away from the bathroom as possible. I was just too vain to walk across the restaurant where anyone could see the catastrophe. I grabbed the bright white cloth napkin (I know I ruined it – I felt so bad!) and dabbed it in my water glass and was eventually able to salvage my face.

So, that’s my Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick horror story. I know these are holy grails for some people, but I just wanted to share my experience too.

Bare Minerals Gen Nude Matte Liquid Lipcolor – Swag

Let me start this post by admitting that I absolutely loathe liquid lipsticks. I’ve tried so many of them over my lifetime, and I hate how they leave my lips so dry and cracked and flaking. The color almost never wears evenly and it is hard to reapply throughout the day. That being said, I was completely blown away when I tried the Bare Minerals Gen Nude Matte Liquid Lipcolor. I received a deluxe sample of the shade “Swag” which is a nice neutral mauve. The full sized version of this product can be purchased from Sephora for $18.

This is definitely the least drying matte liquid lip color I think I’ve ever tried. It felt soft on my lips and had an almost velvety texture. It was, naturally, a little bit drying, but it was definitely more manageable than I expected. The nude mauve color was really pretty, and I was shocked at how evenly and easily this slid on my lips. It was a very natural-looking shade, which I think helped it appear to wear off evenly. I’m curious if a bolder shade would have appeared to wear off so easily since it would be more noticeable if it was not. Still, I was very impressed by this particular product, and I loved the shade.

I would absolutely recommend this product to someone who is looking for a matte long-wearing lip color. Will I purchase the full size of this product? Probably not. I still don’t like liquid lipsticks, but if I had to wear one, I would definitely choose this one.

Have you tried a brand of liquid lipsticks that didn’t dry out your lips too much? Please, let me know in the comments section!

Kailijumei Flower Jelly Lipsticks!

I first read about the Kailijumei Flower Jelly lipsticks in an article that went viral from Cosmo. They are super pretty and clear with flecks of gold and a small flower at the base of the lipstick. I was instantly intrigued and knew I just had to try them!

You can find several sellers on Amazon that stock this product. Depending on the seller, I’ve seen these range from $23 for one tube to $32 for 4 tubes, so if you decide to pick one up, do shop around to find the best price!

These are really pretty to look at, and they come in a neat red chrome tube. I bought the Flame Red, Dream Purple, and Barbie Doll shades. Now, these lipsticks are supposed to adjust to the perfect shade of whichever color you buy, but honestly they all look EXACTLY the same: a medium pink that leaves a sheer stain on the lips. I tried to swatch them on my hand, but it just wouldn’t photograph right. It basically looks like a your-lips-but-better shade of pink that has a great lasting power! Personally, I love this shade of pink, although it’s kind of disappointing that the red and purple also look pink.

The finish on this product is a semi-matte. It’s not drying, but it also will not moisturize the lips at all. The color is more of a tint than an opaque shade, but I think I’m going to really like it for more natural-looking days! I’ve worn it a few times now, and I’m happy with it, but I don’t think this product is for everyone. Those who are looking for something noticeably pigmented (which I think most people look for in a lipstick) will probably be disappointed. The bottom line is that this product is more of a novelty than anything. It’s not great as a lipstick unless you’re looking for something really sheer and you don’t need an added kick of moisture. Ultimately, this was fun to try, and I’m definitely going to keep one of the tubes I bought, but it’s just an okay product.

What do you think? Have you bought any interesting novelty products lately?

Bite Beauty

Over the years, I have amassed so many lipsticks from Bite Beauty.  The picture below shows just a handful of the various samples and purchases I’ve picked up. This brand is one you can get at Sephora. They’re whole focus is lips, which is really fun.

Part of the Bite Beauty goal is to provide high-quality products that use natural, good-for-you ingredients. So, if you’re worried about chemicals, you can rest assured that these products are made from healthy, organic materials. Now, for a natural lipstick, this is definitely the best brand I’ve ever tried. The products are easy to apply, apply and wear evenly, and don’t dry out the lips too much. That being said, if you’re just looking for a lipstick and you’re not as concerned about the ingredients that may be used, I wouldn’t really recommend these. I find that I’m consistently underwhelmed by these products. Does anyone else feel that way? There’s nothing really wrong with them – they’re just not the best. They don’t wear the longest. They’re not the most moisturizing. They colors aren’t the prettiest. Honestly, I’m not sure how I’ve managed to amass so many of these products since I don’t love them. So, my overall verdict is that this one is great if you want a natural product, but it’s a pass if that’s not your goal.

What do you think? Is this brand the bomb or just blah to you?

Sephora Oil Infusion Lip Product

How is it that my lips feel so chapped in both winter and summer? Weather extremes are so harsh on delicate skin, and lips are covered with some of the most sensitive skin on the body. Recently, I’ve found that I’ve become obsessed with oil-based lip products because they are so moisturizing without being sticky! One that I’ve been turning to a lot is the Sephora Oil Infusion Color & Care.

This tube looks like a gloss, and it is very similar to a gloss, but it’s actually an oil-based balm with a concentration of color. It also retails for $14, but recently Sephora put them in the sale section for $7. This is a bad sign and probably means that they’re being discontinued, so you should definitely snag one while you still can. I’d also like to note that even when this product no longer exists, there are some other great lip oils out there (from YSL, Clarins, and more – although, they’re more expensive).

So, this Sephora lip oil glides on so smoothly with the doe foot applicator. It packs a nice punch of color, but it is not as vibrant as the tube might lead you to believe. It’s definitely more pigmented than all other tinted balms I’ve used, but it is not near the full pigment of a lipstick. Still, I love this wash of color for lower key days. For a balm, the color also lasts really well. I definitely have to reapply after eating, but I find that this balm does stain the lips a bit in a really pretty way. Finally, and most importantly, this product is so moisturizing. It leaves my lips feeling soft and supple. In many ways, it looks and feels like a gloss, but there is absolutely no stickiness, which is great because that’s the one thing I consistently dislike about most glosses.

You should definitely buy one before they’re all gone! $7 is a steal. I’ve purchased Pink Granita which is a nice medium pink sheen and Cherry Cocktail which is a gorgeous cool red with blue undertones that suits my skin tone really well.

Dior Addict Wonderful

It’s no secret that I love Dior products, especially lip products. There’s just something so luxurious about them. Sure, the name is iconic, but the quality of the products is still very impressive. I had a lot of luck with Dior Addict Lipstick when I wanted a bold lip, so I decided to try another in a softer shade.

I went with the shade Wonderful, which can be purchased from Sephora for $35. I just love how effortlessly it slides across my lips. The pigmentation is just perfect, and I love that there’s just a hint of glitter. I think that lipstick really completes a look. There’s something about it that pulls everything together, and so far, I’ve never been let down by a Dior lip product.

I will say that the shade Wonderful, which is a lighter shade, does not last quite as long as some of the darker Dior shades. It does fade, especially if you are eating, but the nice thing is that it fades very evenly. It’s also easy to apply that reapplying it hopefully won’t feel like much of a chore.

Overall, I’ve yet to find a Dior lip product that I disliked, and if you want to splurge on a lipstick, I definitely recommend the Dior Addict ones.
