Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship

About two months ago, my hair was really long, but now that I’ve cut off about 10 inches, it’s definitely more of a medium length. Caring for long hair can be a real challenge. The longer your hair, the greater the chance of dry, split ends which require a lot of nourishment. However, in my case, I needed to find a product that could both nourish my ends without making my scalp oily. Thankfully, I found Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship Shampoo and Conditioner. These products retail for between $3-6 a piece depending on which retailer you go to.

The best part of these products is the fact that they do what I need them to do: nourish my ends and prevent breakage without making my scalp get oily. I love the way that they leave no residue but are very easy to lather in the shower. I’ve been using a lot of natural hair products and they don’t tend to lather very well, so using these felt ultra luxurious since they built up a really nice lather.

The scent is also amazing – kind of like pomegranate mixed with other fruits. The fruity smell was not overpowering though. It was nice and light and fresh.

I can’t recommend these enough for people with long hair. They’re so inexpensive compared to salon brands, but I swear they work just as well. If you’re on a budget and you have long hair, you’ve just got to try these.

Kristin Ess The One Signature Shampoo and Conditioner

I love to change up my shampoo and conditioner every time I run out. This is actually good for your hair since hair does get acclimated to shampoo and conditioner so it won’t work as well over time if you never change the formula you’re using. Knowing this, my bestie surprised me with a sampler of Kristin Ess’ The One Signature Shampoo and Conditioner. The full-size versions of these can be picked up from Target for $10 each.

I absolutely loved these! I started using them before I cut off 10 inches of hair because they are supposed to be great for split ends (they have something called “zip up technology” to help with this). Now, there’s no way to permanently fix  split ends besides cutting them off, but products can sort of bind them together, and that’s exactly what these did. After the shower, my hair was instantly softer and more manageable and my split ends were a lot less noticeable. My hair also felt exceptionally clean and healthy. I was super impressed by this brand!

Kristin Ess is a celebrity hairstylist whose goal was to create a range of hair products that are both affordable and luxurious, and I think she’s definitely hit the mark with these. I would love to try more of her products because these worked so well and I was actually sad when I’d used up the last of these samplers.

Maple Holistics Tea Tree Shampoo

I recently received a free bottle of Maple Holistics Tea Tree Shapoo in exchange for an honest review. This product can be purchased from the Maple Holistics website and Amazon. It is priced at $25.00, but it looks like it’s only $8.95 right now!

Tea tree oil is an amazing ingredient. It’s very soothing on the skin, so this should work well and gently for anyone with scalp issues. I don’t have any scalp dryness or dandruff, but I still really liked this shampoo. It smells amazing (tea tree oil is very aromatic and the scent is very relaxing). I find that this shampoo cleans my hair really well. My hair feels nourished afterwards without looking greasy or dry – it’s a perfect balance.

The consistency of the shampoo is very thick, so I  do find that I need to use much more shampoo to reach a full lather than I typically do with other shampoos. This means that you’ll probably go through the bottle faster that you expect, so keep that in mind. Since it’s pretty expensive shampoo (it’s only an 8 oz. bottle), that may disappoint some.

If you want to try this shampoo, or any other product from Maple Holistics, they do offer generous free samples. Just fill out this form on their website, and they’ll send you a free sample of the product you’d like to try. This is really great because it allows you to try the product before you invest your money in one of the products!

Tresemmé Fresh Start Dry Shampoo

Dry shampoo is a life saver for people like me who sometimes get oily roots. I’ve searched high and low for the perfect one, and I finally found it: Tresemmé Fresh Start Volumizing Dry Shampoo!

I love literally every aspect of this product! First, the price point: you can pick it up at Target or similar stores for only $5. It also smells fresh and amazing but isn’t overly perfumed – this means it won’t conflict with any other fragrance products you may choose to wear.

The best quality, however, is the fact that it is CLEAR! That’s right, if you use this product correctly (which means spraying it lightly and not holding it really close to your roots) then there is no residue! And if you do happen to spray it too generously or too closely, you can just rub it a teeny bit and it disappears and still dries clear. This is just so amazing because most dry shampoos leave a weird filmy white residue no matter what I do, and brown tinted dry shampoos can stain skin or clothing.

I like the volumizing aspect because it helps my hair have a bit more life to it (I have thin hair, but lot’s of it!) However, if you have thick hair or just don’t want more volume, Tresemmé also has a Basic Care version that absorbs oil and freshens up your hair without this aspect.

If you’ve been having issues with knowing how to use dry shampoo or you’re unsure of which dry shampoo would be best for your hair needs, here is a helpful infographic that can walk you through this.

Have you tried this product, or do you have a favorite dry shampoo? Please, let me know in the comments section!
