A Modern Cinderella: Meghan Markle and the Royal Wedding

Of course I woke up early today to experience the royal wedding! Honestly, I was surprised at how emotional I got while watching the ceremony proceeding. It was beautiful, elegant, and everything I wanted to see. I love how the royal family has embraced Meghan. You could tell that she and Harry have such genuine love, and I wish them a lifetime of happiness.

Prince Charles walking Meghan down the aisle is so sweet. Apparently, she even asked him herself and there was no hesitation at all. She’s been fully embraced as a member of the family, and I love it so much!

Also, Meghan’s train goes on for days. It’s so epic – major wedding goals right there.

Of course the Queen looked fabulous in lime and purple!

And Kate and Camilla win for best hats!

Prince Harry and Prince William

The brothers look so dapper. Diana would be so proud of the lovely men they’ve become!

Meghan’s mom is beautiful too and she was just beaming with pride at her daughter!

Also, I can’t end this blog without acknowledging the fantastic Bishop Curry! He delivered a legitimate sermon filled with so much passion. His words were powerful, but I also loved the expressions on the stoic British people who clearly have never experienced a gospel preacher with so much fire!

Since this is a fashion blog, I should probably also mention that this lovely wedding dress is Givenchy! It’s so elegant and timeless. I was expecting something more modern, but this was absolutely gorgeous.

This was a wedding to remember. It was absolutely amazing. Congrats Harry and Meghan!

Fashions for a Royal Wedding

I am so excited for the royal wedding this Saturday! My invitation did get lost in the mail, but I still plan on celebrating in style. I browsed Nordstrom‘s website for inspiration on what I might have worn had I actually been invited. I’m not 100% certain on royal wedding protocol, but I think these are pretty safe choices for most spring afternoon weddings!

Spring Bridal Trend: Full Skirts

While my engagement didn’t quite work out and I’m a single lady again, I was still excited to see the latest in Bridal Fashion that has come out over the last few weeks. Even though it is 2018, these were all shows for Spring 2019. Fashion shows are always so ahead of real life! Still, one trend I couldn’t help but notice is that so many designers used very full skirts in their bridal fashions this year. I thought I would put together a few of my favorites from shows that were posted on Vogue Runway, a great resources for those who want to stay on top of couture.

This first dress is from Elie Saab. Not only is this a gorgeous set for photo shoots, but I also love the floral embellishments on the bodice of this dress as well as the softer embellishments woven into the full tulle skirt.

This next dress is from Temperley London. While the skirt is still full, I love the mermaid style and the cascading lace in the front. Also, the lingerie-inspired bodice is a daring but beautiful choice.

This third one is from Marchesa. The fullness of this skirt is reminiscent of a wedding cake, and I like how the floral embellishments seem to be dripping between the layers of dress.

Next, we have another super dramatic skirt courtesy of Viktor & Rolf. The ruffled edging of each dress layer is stunning, although I imagine this works better for a runway than walking down the aisle of a real wedding.

Our penultimate dress is from Monique Lhuillier. This one looks like a complete fantasy to me. It gives me major Disney Princess vibes, and I adore the long train that accompanies this full skirt.

Finally, we have this dress from Jenny Packham, one of Duchess Kate’s favorite designers. The halter neckline and bodice are very reminiscent of Marilyn Monroe, and the full skirt is more delicate than the others and feels very romantic.
